Face Taping for the Win!

Most of us are familiar with kinesiology taping (a.k.a. KT taping) or we’ve at least seen people with thick strips of a fabric-ish tape on their body. I love this technique for supporting bodies and was intrigued to learn that you can use a version of it for facial care!

Essentially, you want a less sticky version of the tape for the face. You can buy special facial tape online, or you can cut pieces of regular KT tape and press it against the skin several times to remove some of the adhesive power.

I’ve been playing around with it at home and mostly free-styling techniques from videos I’m hunting down online. Facial taping can be used for wrinkles/fine lines, drooping muscles and - my favorite - under eye puffiness (check out the pic below for proof!). If I wake up with the consequences of my choices showing up on my face now I put on a small strip of tape under each eye while I’m getting ready (leaving it on for about 10 minutes). The effects are dramatic and faster than doing a full guasha or facial routine (which I’m also a huge fan of. . . ).

Some facial taping practitioners say that you can leave the tape on overnight, which I tried a couple times, but felt like my skin got a bit irritated by not being free to breathe. So, play around with this and see what works best for you. I tend to target the lines formed from furrowing my brow and the lines around my eyes from all the smiling and laughing I get to experience.

There are so many cool ways we can support our skin, which is working SO hard for us. Y’all know that I am the first to admit that my facial care routine could be more disciplined, but I believe in these less invasive modalities and the proof (for me) will be in seeing how gracefully I move through ageing.

I hope you love your skin. I hope you feel happy and settled in your body. I hope you come see me soon.

love,

Jenna
